    Gravel Crushing

    Alva Construction Limited owns and operates several pits and quarries around Nova Scotia with the intention to supply aggregates to various construction and road building projects by blasting and crushing materials onsite.  Permitted by Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Labour, our quarry advancement and aggregate production continues year round to provide the general public, provincial and federal departments the necessary products that are desired to meet local market demands.  The blasted rock is processed by portable crushing equipment and stockpiled in designated areas within the quarry limits, this blasted rock usually ends up as one of the following products:

    • DOT&C Type 1, 2, 1S (Class A, B, C, E)

    • Asphalt Aggregates

    • Armour Stone and Rip-Rap

    • Concrete Aggregates

    Some of our quarry locations are as follows:

    Whycocomagah Quarry

    This aggregate crushing and screening operation is located along Campbell's Mountain Road, Stewartdale, Inverness County, Nova Scotia. Entrance to the quarry is via an access road approximately 500m in length, from a publicly owned secondary road called Campbell's Mountain Road.

    Hartville Road Quarry

    This aggregate crushing and screening operation is located in St. Croix, Hants County, NS.  Entrance to the quarry is via an access road, approximately 200 meters (m) in length, from a publicly owned secondary road called Hartville Road. Hartville Road is accessed from the first left off of HWY 1 after the exit at Ellershouse from HWY 101 from Halifax Regional Municipality.

    Maritime Rock / Georgeville Quarry

    This aggregate crushing and screening operation is located on the Sunrise Trail, Antigonish County, NS. Entrance to the quarry is via an access road, approximately 1.5 kms in length off of Route 337.

    Grand Etang Quarry

    This aggregate crushing and screening operation is located in Grand Etang, Inverness County, NS just off of the Cabot Trail. Entrance to the quarry is via an access road, approximately 500 meters (m) in length, from a publicly owned secondary road called Old Crading Mill Road. Entrance to the access road is appropriately 250 meteres (m) in length along Old Crading Mill Road. Old Crading Mill Road is accessed from the first left off of the Cabot Trail past Petit Lac.

    Barrington Quarry

    This aggregate crushing and screening operation is located on Wireless Road, Shelburne County, NS. Entrance to the quarry is via an access road, approximately 3.5 kms in length off of Route 3.

    Pleasant Valley Pit

    This aggregate screening facility  is located in Pleasant Valley, Antigonish County, NS. Entrance to the quarry is via an access road, approximately 30 m in length from a publicly owned secondary road called Pleasant Valley Road.

    Leitches Creek Quarry

    This aggregate crushing and screening operation is located at the end of  Upper Leitches Creek Road, Cape Breton Co., Nova Scotia. Entrance to the quarry is via an access road off of Upper Leitches Creek Road.  Upper Leitches Creek Road is accesed from Leitches Creek Road via Exit 3 from highway 125.
